I was watching on the special program on the National Geographic Channel where they were trying to figure out if science and religion could meet and expose the truth behind Adam. Believe it or not, both the scientific and religious perspectives could be very well linked.
According to the scientific investigation, this researcher has analyzed the DNA of thousands of people trying to find a common link among all men that can be traced back to our first ancestor. Specifically the Y chromosome is analyzed and studied in all the samples of men taken. The Y chromosome remains the same from generation to generation from father to son and so on. Small mutations can occur after each offspring, but the overall chromosome stays the same. Based on the research, we all men share a similar Y chromosome from one common ancestor, which could very well be Adam.
According to the Bible Adam was the first human created by God and from him we are all descendants. According to the Bible Adam then created Eve and they lived in the Garden of Eden until they were tempted by the snake and expelled from this magnificent place. Well, as it turns out this magnificent place could be what is now the East of Africa, a place full of natural beauty, filled with extensive habitat and a diverse animal kingdom. This is also the place linked by research to be the birth place of Adam.
Adam could have been the first 'human', the first one to think the way we do. This plays a big change in our evolution in the cycle of life. This was the beginning of what it is now known as homo sapiens or 'the wise man', the man that is wise enough to think, be creative and innovate. It is at this time, about 60,000 yrs ago, that our ancestors began having some of the most profound changes to human kind, something like the creation of a language, art & weapons. Being Adam the first 'wise' human, he would develop techniques and abilities not found in the group of people he would live with. Due to his superior abilities he would procreate more and his offspring would in essence also share and expand on those abilities and would improve over generation and generation.
Over time humans would conquer the world and due to the massive expansion of our species a mixture of different genes and characteristics have caused us to be unique yet with one common ancestor.
